Taphophilia is a passion for and enjoyment of cemeteries. The singular term is a taphophile.
Taphophilia involves epitaphs, gravestone rubbings, photography, art, and history of (famous) deaths. An example of an individual’s expression of taphophilia is the character Harold in the movie Harold and Maude (1971).
Taphophilia should not be confused with necrophilia, which is a sexual attraction to corpses. [1]
We are college graduates making our way in the real world and nursing a hobby that manifested in the late years of high school, a hobby that has turned into a love and devotion for all things cemetery.
Our purpose is to explore as many cemeteries in as much detail as possible. In that process, we collect and scrutinize ghost stories, local legends, and unsolved mysteries.
The Headstoner Group is dedicated to founding a charity designed to supply headstones for unmarked graves. For more information, please visit http://headstoner.com/roberts-story/.
Grounds & Grounds is an ongoing project of the Headstoners. For details, please visit the appropriate page.
