Gallia County derives its name from the Latin name of France, Gaul. Its county seat is the attractive but unpronouncable Gallipolis, and it is home to one of the most beautiful and extensive cemeteries of our career, Mound Hill. The county’s area covers 468.78 sqare miles with a population of about 31,069. Although not high on the haunt or cemetery coolity scales, Gallia is known among legend trippers for its very eerie and very authentic modern day ghost town, Cheshire.
