Well, thanks for the input, and thanks for checking the blog out. Just to be clear, I did say in the post all three of those things you claim I missed--(1) "This is the memorial of . . . well, about 50 people. The Cushman, Hewitt, and Gifford families are memorialized here." (2) "there is another tombstone dedicated to listing this selfsame roll of honor." (3) "There is a historic marker memorializing Woodstock as a stop for the Lincoln Funeral Train."

The actual text of the historical marker states that Governor John Brough "and others" changed the train's route from Columbus, Ohio, resulting in its going through Champaign County and making several stops. There was a "brief ceremony" in Woodstock, but no further details. It's really weird--I don't have a clue about your family's history. If the train stopped for Lincoln's uncle, hey, cool. But I haven't seen any documentation of that.

I'd be interested to know what else I got "wrong." I like my posts to be as closely fact-checked as possible, but nothing you pointed out was wrong at all, so . . . well, thanks for reading, I guess.

The monument was dedicated to the men and women of the Cushman familly who gave there live while serving the Grand Arm of the Republic. The cemetary also includes one of the first medal of honor winner also from the Civil war. Lincoln train stoped here so Abe's Uncle, my great great great grand father could pay respects. You made more mistakes but if you want quick and wrong, you don't care!
